Faith: The Transformative Power (video)

FAITH: The ability to believe, intuit, and perceive. The disciple PETER represents Faith in things spiritual, faith in God. The month is JANUARY, the corresponding color is BLUE and the location is the center of the brain.

Our Faith – what we believe – determines the outcome of our journey. It is our faith that helps us pursue our goals and not quit when everyone says it’s impossible.  Cynthia Kearsey says, “With a believing state of mind, you can transform your purpose and goals into physical realities.” Charles Fillmore, the co-founder of Unity said that our faith is our “ability to shape substance linked with the perceiving power of mind.”  This means that we manifest things in our lives when we link our faith, our ability to shape substance with our perceiving power of mind, our ability to mentally image our goal, our imagination.
And the Bible in the book of Hebrews says faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. To us all this means that when we believe something enough – when we develop a conviction that is anchored in our soul where nothing can destroy it, then belief becomes faith and the Bible tells us we can move mountains. Faith is a tremendous gift of the spirit because it calls on us to participate.

It is Spirit revealing our awareness of our divine nature. The really good news is that we don’t have to do this by ourselves. We don’t have to do it alone. How do we build faith? First you have to know what you believe.  You have to really sit down with yourself and get very clear on what you believe. Do you believe in God, a higher power, universal mind, a power greater than yourself? What do you believe is the nature of God?  Do you believe that God is love and that God is good?  Or do you still believe in a vengeful angry power that favors one of his creations over another? And do you believe that you are a beloved child of God?  If God is a power for good, does that mean I can align with that good?  Do you believe that it is our creator’s good pleasure for us to have the keys to the storehouse?
To build our faith we have to know what is our truth. To build faith, we need to watch what we say to ourselves.  We need to watch our internal language. We need to catch ourselves, if inside, we are saying “How on earth did I think I could ever accomplish my goal?  It’s too big, too difficult. It’s impossible! What was I thinking?” To deal with this kind of negative self-talk, we have to be aware of it. Then we can list it and look for ways that we can modify this self-talk. Instead of saying it’s too big, we can ask ourselves “what can we do to break this down into manageable chunks.”

As we come to know our own truth, we can look at the things we fear, we can look at the things that seem to be big risks.  Then we can reasonably look at how we can prepare ourselves for the challenge and make the commitment to do so.  If we feel we don’t know enough, we can look for ways to get the knowledge we need. Then we can actually go about getting that knowledge. So you see, building faith is easy.  All we have to do is take time out of our life, regularly on a daily basis, to remind ourselves of the truth. The truth that God is a power for good in the Universe, and all that God, our higher power, has ever wanted and will ever want for our life is good.  We need to take time to remember that we were not put here to suffer any kind of misery.  We need to remember that we are not being tested by God.  Principle number two says we are inherently good, inherently worthy. The everlasting truth is our life is made for love, for joy, for ease and for prosperity and for nothing else.
