Unity’s Five Principles
- God is. There is one Presence and one Power active in the universe and in our lives. This Presence is good, loving, and all-powerful.
- I AM. We are spiritual beings with a spark of divinity within us. We are created in the image and likeness of God, and we are capable of good, love, and peace.
- The Law of Mind Action. Our thoughts create our reality. What we think about, we bring about.
- Affirmative prayer. Prayer is a powerful tool for changing our thoughts and creating the life we want. When we pray affirmatively, we declare the truth of who we are and what we want to create.
- Living the truth. We demonstrate our belief in these principles by living them out in our daily lives. We do this by choosing thoughts, words, and actions that are aligned with our highest good.
These principles are the foundation of Unity’s spiritual philosophy. They provide a framework for understanding our relationship to God, ourselves, and the world around us. They also offer guidance for living a fulfilling and meaningful life.
Here are some specific ways that these principles can be applied in our lives:
- God is. We can affirm this principle by spending time in nature, meditating, or praying. We can also express our gratitude for the good in our lives.
- I AM. We can connect with our inner divinity through practices such as self-reflection, journaling, and visualization. We can also affirm our worth and potential by speaking positive words to ourselves.
- The Law of Mind Action. We can use this principle to change our thoughts and create the life we want by paying attention to our thoughts and choosing to focus on the positive. We can also use affirmations and visualization to help us manifest our goals.
- Affirmative prayer. We can pray affirmatively by stating our desires in the present tense, as if they have already been fulfilled. We can also use prayer to connect with God and ask for guidance and support.
- Living the truth. We can live the truth of these principles by choosing thoughts, words, and actions that are aligned with our highest good. This means being kind, compassionate, and loving to ourselves and others. It also means taking action to create a better world.
The five principles of Unity offer a powerful and practical framework for living a life of peace, love, and abundance. By understanding and applying these principles, we can create a more fulfilling and meaningful life for ourselves and for the world.
