Will

Will: A Divine Spark Within (video)

WILL: The ability to choose, decide, command, lead, and determine. The disciple MATTHEW represents the decision-making part of the brain. The month is AUGUST, the corresponding color is SILVER and the location is the center of the brain.

The faculty of Will is said to be the chief executive of our mind.  In his book, “More Power to You”, author Charles Roth says that if we are going to rule our minds, we are going to have to educate our will. Our will is what gives the order for action. All power flows from God, through our individual sense of I AM.

When our will directs us to respond with anger, it directs our power – our God energy – in a negative way as our blood pressure and heartbeat begin to increase, pouring adrenaline into the bloodstream and placing our body into a state of stress. When our will directs us to remain calm, it directs our power – our God energy – in a positive way as we are able to think clearly and be receptive to Spirit.

God’s will for us is always good. “God only asks us to give up our good in exchange for something better.” “Are we being open to God’s will for something better to happen?” Our greatest dreams, our heart’s deepest        desires are God pulling us towards our highest and best. Our heart’s deepest desires are always an indication of God’s will. To know God’s will for our        lives, we have to approach our dreams, our decisions on Holy Ground. How do we do that? We do that as we close our mouths, and still our thoughts – as we spend time in contemplation and meditation. That invites the voice of God to be heard and it creates the space for us to hear God’s will.

What does the voice of God sound like? For most of us the voice of God sounds like our own voice. It might come as a thought, a feeling, or an intuition. Sometimes when we haven’t been used to listening to the voice of God, we have to differentiate between the voice of God and our ego, between the voice of God and the committee that lives in our head.

Here are some ways to differentiate. The Voice of God never whimpers or whines. The voice of God always has a quiet strength. Spirit never compares us to someone else. Spirit never tells us to do something at another’s expense; God never calls us to anything, but our highest and best.

Any time that we notice coincidences in our lives, it is wise for us to stop and look at them. Be aware that God is at work our lives – showing his will for us.

Spirit, our Higher Power, Universal Mind – whatever your name is for God – that power, the creative intelligence of the Universe is always trying to guide us to our highest and best. That guidance may come as the still small voice within, it might come through others, or through coincidences.

We can depend on God to use the voice that will come in whatever way we are open to hear. Even when we don’t pay attention, God doesn’t give up on us.         God is always present, ready to show us the way; ready to speak in whatever way we need to hear. If we are in a quandary and need to know what to do, all we have to do is be willing to listen – and to take the responsibility of paying attention to our biggest dreams, paying attention to our heart’s grandest desires, paying attention to the coincidences in our life, paying attention to our intuition. To ignore these – to deny them, is to deny God’s will for our highest and best. God’s will for us is always good. The everlasting truth is that God is always ready to take our hand and guide us. The question is are we ready to reach out and accept that guidance.
